Kilimanjaro comprises of 3 prominent volcanic cones:Mawenzi,Shira,Kibo.Mawenzi peak at 5149m which comes second after Kibo at 5895m and Mt.Kenya ast 5199m as a highest peak in Africa an extinct volcanoe its peak can be seen by those using rongai route as well as Northen circuit hikes.The second volcanoe Shira at 3962m is no longer a peak as it collapsed forming the now known Shira plateau ,this geographic feature can be seen through the routes of Machame,Lemosho and Shira.Kibo peak which is the tallest and mot central, is visible from Amboseli National Park,which is located in Kenya.Kibo is a dormant volcanoe and could erupt someday in the near distant future.

8 Days Mt.Kilimanjaro Climbing Machame Route
Day 1:Moshi-Machame gate
Pick up from Moshi to head to Machame gate.At the gate complete the formalities of bag weighing,meet the trekking guides and other people who will join you for the climb.Start off the trek along a rain forest area ,the walk will be steady and slow as you pick up pace to head towards your destination for the first day trek which will be at Machame camp.The trek upto machame camp takes around 7 hours trekk on arrival at m,achame camp relax and set camp enjoy your dinner and overnight.
Day 2:Machame Camp-Shira Camp
Breakfast then kick start your second trekking day on Mount Kilimanjaro.The path that we will trekk on for this day consists of a small valley and a hill as well as a thinning forest.The various different terrains from the valley to the hill as well as the thinning forest are helpful especially in getting used to the various hig altitudes on Mount Kilimanjaro.Along your days trekk experiences vegetation covers such as moorland zone with their characteristic giant groundsel,lobelia and senecios.The destination camp for the second day is Shira camp where you will have your dinner and overnight.
8 days Kilimanjaro Climbing Umbwe Route
DAY 1: NAIROBI-ARUSHA
Leave Nairobi for Arusha by shuttle bus arriving in time for lunch.
Afternoon is spent at leisure and shopping for the provisions needed for the Mountain.
Dinner and overnight at Arusha hotel.
DAY 2: ARUSHA- LAVA CAVES
After breakfast, transfer to Marangu gate and then to Umbwe Village to start the climb. Climb for four hours through the rainforest to camp at the caves 2,800m above the sea level.
7 Days Kilimanjaro Climbing Marangu Route
DAY 1: NAIROBI-MOSHI.
Picks up from early morning, arriving Namanga border town around 1000hrs. After immigration procedures. Proceed to Arusha town for lunch. Drive to Moshi where the afternoon is spent organizing climbing gear. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Arusha or Moshi.
DAY 2: MOSHI-MANDARA HUT
After breakfast, drive 45kms to Marangu Gate (1860m). Walk (9000 ft) through dense semi-tropical Rain Forest for your overnight on Kilimanjaro. Meals and overnight at the hut.
